Most people with serious health issues have a more acidic body pH substantially below 7.0, often in the 4.5-6.0 range (Acidosis). The body pH of most unhealthy people tends to be very acidic. Acidosis can cause a clumping together of the red blood cells resulting in a reduction of oxygen and nutrients delivery to body cells. There is often an energy bump (even a mild euphoria) as the pH is adjusted upward and the red blood cells un-clump and more oxygen and nutrients are delivered to the body’s cells. The healing of most issues caused by one-celled organisms and even things such as Arthritis and Cancer occurs more readily when the body is on the alkaline side of the pH scale, about 7.2-7.4.
Since the body can swing widely from acidic to alkaline depending on what foods and drinks are being consumed, one of the most effective short-term methods for adjusting pH toward the more alkaline is with baking soda (not baking powders). To do this safely and effectively, pH paper/strips should be used to test the pH of the urine 2-3 times per day, preferably first thing in the morning before eating; at noon before eating; and at bedtime an hour or so after eating.
Since every body and every situation is different, it may take more or less to maintain an optimal pH, but a good place to start would be one teaspoon of baking soda in 6-8 ounces of water at bedtime. After doing this for 3-4 days using pH paper/strips to monitor your urine pH level 2-3 times per day, you will have a baseline to proceed further if necessary. If your levels are not reaching 7.2-7.4 and maintaining close to that throughout the day, then start doing another teaspoon in a glass of water a couple hours before or after your noon meal. (Note: Do not take baking soda close before or after a meal as it will neutralize essential stomach acid levels.) If the bedtime and noontime doses are not maintaining the slightly alkaline pH, then you may want to do a third one as soon as you awake in the morning.
Although the vast majority of people with health issues have an acidic body pH, it is also possible to develop alkalosis by maintaining a high pH for too long. If dealing with serious health issues, one may often require a higher pH, but it would be prudent to cycle from a well maintained 7.2-7.4 pH to a higher alkalinity pH for a few days and then drop back to a 7.2-7.4 level. This will allow the body to eliminate diseased tissue (i.e. dead Cancer cells) and/or dying microbes (i.e. bacteria, virus, fungus) without poisoning the body. This Herxheimer-like effect can often occur with therapeutic use of Colloidal Silver when too many microbes are killed too quickly. (Note: The symptoms of metabolic alkalosis can be low blood potassium and calcium levels, causing, e.g., muscular weakness, muscle pain, and muscle cramps and muscle spasms. One may also experience dizziness, weakness, fever and other flu-like symptoms as the bloodstream becomes flooded with toxins being eliminated.)
Note: For long-term pH maintenance, it is best to eat an 80-85% plant based diet, keeping meat consumption below 15-20%.
