Lithium Orotate is an organic form of the mineral Lithium and one of Dr. Hans Nieper’s formulas that primarily supports the Nervous System and the Digestive System. Orotate is the salt of a crystalline acid called orotic acid which “occurs in milk and is a growth factor for various microorganisms (as Lactobacillus bulgaricus) and a precursor of the pyrimidine bases of nucleotides”. Lithium aids in keeping the nervous system calm and ‘in rhythm’ and stabilizing our moods. A deficiency can result in nervousness, anxiety, mood swings and even manic-depressive states. Drink 8-10 glasses of water when supplementing with Lithium and stay off alcohol and low salt diets.

Caution:\r\nLithium should be taken with the supervision of a physician or naturopathic professional as too high levels can result in diarrhea, kidney disfunction, nausea, stomach cramps, thirst, thyroid enlargement, weight gain, tremors, acne, and psoriasis. Toxic levels can cause blurred vision, slurred speech, confusion, muscle weakness and twitching, and vomiting. If you’re taking Lithium closely monitor yourself for these symptoms. Do not take while on a crash diet or if you have an impaired kidney function. Also, do not take if you are already taking a medicine containing Lithium.
